Blackness cascades through my wounded soul
While I laugh at some inanely hysterical joke
My heart bleeds, its mortality gushing from me
And I continue my life, keeping right on schedule.
Angering evil with my refusal to fold my hand
Pride halts me from taking the easy road out
Angelic hands lift me away from self-destruction
Morality fills me each time I start to run away.
I miss my life
The way it was
It isn't right
The way it is.
Forgotten at times that everything has turned dark and sad
Feeling joyful like nothing changed, and then instant guilt
I can practically feel the smack in the back of my head
Telling me my teacher wants me to learn from all this.
Metaphysical presence can not hug away my fears
Dreams can not answer the questions and queries
Spirit doesn't eat Pizza every moment of every day
Hiking with a memory is still walking all alone.
I miss my life
The way it was
It isn't right
The way it is.
While I laugh at some inanely hysterical joke
My heart bleeds, its mortality gushing from me
And I continue my life, keeping right on schedule.
